I’ve often wondered why we spend billions and billions on treating epidemic-sized health ailments such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and obesity in adults when the real focus should be on helping children avoid these issues and eliminate these illnesses from their future.

Its like the picture  above…overweight dad the mirror of his son’s future. But why pull the weeds if you’re not going to get the roots? Why focus on the ailments of the adult and not on the influences on the child?

New CDC (Center For Disease Control) data is quite alarming. They did a comparison study using data from 1976 to1980 and 2003 to 2006 to determine increases in obesity in children. Here’s the scoop…

For 12-19 year olds percentages went from 5% to 17.6%. Children six to 11 years changed from 6.5% to 17%. Yet, the greatest concern should be focused on the 2 to 5 year category. Their obesity numbers went from 5% to 12.6%.

What in the world causes a two to five year old to have obesity challenges?

But wait, there’s more…

recently NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) released information collected determining that obese children between the ages of 10 to 15, have an 80% chance of being obese as adults. (See cartoon at top left!)

Now, the clincher…

Children who are already overweight by age 8 have the highest possibility of SEVERE obesity as adults.

What parent would let their children be attacked by a vicious animal or a crazed maniac? Yet, we as Americans are allowing (and in many cases, encouraging them by example) our kids to be attacked by a revenue-frenzied, dead food market, saturate with an overabundance of processed, chemical-ladened, steroid-infused, synthetic hormone injected, “food”, falsely so called.

These toxins don’t just go away. They become enshrouded in fat as a last-resort protection measure by your body. These build and build into excess fat. Nutritional cleansing is for kids as well as adults. KIDS ESPECIALLY! As I mentioned above, why focus on condition and not cause? Lets solve the cause and save our children from being statistics in a medical black hole.
