The study pooled data from 42 randomized controlled trials that included 1,297 subjects and found consistent short- and long-term cardiovascular benefits from intake of chocolate, cocoa, or cocoa flavanols—the antioxidant components of chocolate. Chocolate eating was associated with better toned blood vessels, blood flow, and maintenance of blood pressure. Additionally, chocolate eating was linked to better insulin sensitivity, a previously unreported finding.

The researchers evaluated several effects of cocoa flavanols on cardiovascular risk factors such as blood vessel elasticity (endothelial function), inflammation, and platelet function. Notably, chocolate appeared to help blood vessels become more elastic and flexible regardless of how much eaten per day.For most of us, the quantity of chocolate we eat is not a problem, but as usual, quality is the key. The study results are no reason to over-indulge in chocolate, the authors caution, as the sugar-and-fat calories can quickly add up. Unless the goal is to gain weight, there still needs to be moderation in chocolate-eating habits.

High Quality IsaDelight Plus

Getting cardiovascular benefits from chocolate can be as simple as eating a couple or more pieces of IsaDelight Plus Dark Chocolates, specially formulated to be rich in antioxidant flavanols yet be low in calories. The chocolates also come packed with metabolism-boosting green tea extract and brain-supporting amino acids to assist in weight management. Healthy snacking never tasted so good!

Feeling bitter about dark chocolate for your Valentine? Give your sweetie a sweeter version with the new IsaDelight Plus Milk Chocolates. Still packed with cocoa flavanols, green tea extract, and amino acids, IsaDelight Plus Milk Chocolates offer a delicious, antioxidant-rich alternative.

For chocolate lovers, the additional evidence confirming cocoa’s heart-health benefits is great news. However, note that chocolate will not undo years of inactivity and a poor diet. Yet it can help jump-start the journey towards a healthier heart and overall you, especially when combined with Cleanse Days and Shake Days of an Isagenix system.

Unfortunately, eating sweet and fatty foods appears to be one of the preferred choices of Americans for managing chronic stress.

Aside from the mental strain caused by chronic stress, it results in higher concentrations of stress hormones such as cortisol and poor eating habits that are associated with increases in belly (visceral) fat. Belly fat is not just unsightly, but is also linked to oxidative stress, inflammation, shorter telomeres, and greater risk of chronic disease.

Take heed: new findings published in the Journal of Obesity (1) suggest that combining an easy technique called mindful eating with stress management can help reduce cortisol levels and the resulting belly fat. Interestingly, a substudy (2) also found that the reduction in cortisol was associated with increased activity of the enzyme telomerase needed to restore telomere length.

In the parent study, researchers from the University of California, San Francisco, randomized 47 women categorized as chronically stressed, overweight, and obese to either a mindful eating training group or a control group. They found that the women who received the training had greater body awareness and reduced cortisol secretion, chronic stress, and abdominal fat. The researchers also found that the women with the greatest reductions in cortisol or stress had the greatest decreases in abdominal fat.

The mindful eating training group also showed significant drops in cortisol after wakening, generally when the hormone reaches peak levels in people suffering from chronic stress. The group’s subjects maintained their body weight while those in the control group did not have a drop in cortisol and continued gaining weight.

Mindful Eating

Instead of prescribing any diet, all of the women attended one session on the basics of a healthy diet and exercise. The training group consisted of teaching the women mindful eating practices such as paying attention to the physical feelings of hunger, cravings, fullness, and taste satisfaction as well as stress-reduction techniques.

The women in the training group attended classes once a week for nine weeks and a seven-hour intensive silent meditation retreat during the sixth week. Throughout the trial, the women were asked to do daily meditation exercises for 30 minutes and to apply mindful eating at meals.

The researchers gauged psychological stress before and after the study by using established survey methods combined with cortisol and fat measurements. What the researchers were looking for was a change in the amount of overall weight and deep abdominal fat as well as a change in cortisol secretion shortly after wakening.

Cortisol Causes Belly Fat, Shortens Telomeres

For the substudy, published in the journal Psychoneuroendocrinology, some of the same researchers took the same women and trial, but just measured their telomerase activity before and after the mindfulness training treatment. Women who received the training and who decreased their stress and belly fat also showed a greater increase in telomerase activity. A link between improved telomere function and reduced fasting blood glucose was also found.

“Improvements in stress, eating, and metabolic regulation may increase telomerase activity over time,” the study authors concluded.

The culprit in the deleterious effects that chronic stress has on the body looks to be the hormone cortisol, which increases as levels of stress increase. Though shorter bouts of cortisol secretion are normal and can have a stimulating effect on the body—as when the ability to run from danger is needed—the opposite is true of having continuously elevated levels of cortisol. This results in a chain reaction where fatty acids from outlying areas move into the abdominal regions and build up belly fat. Chronically elevated levels of cortisol also suppress telomerase, which can lead to shortened telomeres and accelerated cellular aging.

Isagenix and Stress

An Isagenix system is demonstrated as an effective way of reducing harmful belly fat through its application of Cleanse Days and Shake Days. The few calories eaten on Cleanse Days along with Cleanse for Life helps to stimulate fat burning and detoxification while Shake Days combine high-protein meal replacement shakes with healthy eating to maximize nutrition and muscle maintenance.

Additionally, Ionix Supreme, a unique tonic with adaptogens, increases the body’s ability to deal with stress and come out on top. Adaptogens are botanicals that mitigate the stress response, lessening the harmful effects of stress hormones like cortisol on several body systems like the nervous and immune systems.

Lastly, Isagenix products including SlimCakes and FiberSnacks! assist people with healthy snacking—helping them avoid high-calorie junk foods when stressed—and obtaining soluble fiber, which is strongly associated with reduced belly fat.

This year, don’t let stress take over and unleash its havoc on the body. Instead, learn about mindful eating techniques and other stress-beaters—exercise, plenty of sleep, and a diet rich in nutrient-dense foods such as fruits and vegetables, as well as Isagenix products—to help stay calm and cool.

A pilot trial finds Isagenix helps triathletes maintain top condition to face unique challenges of running, cycling, and swimming.

Training as a competitive triathlete is demanding. Unlike other endurance athletes who train for one individual sport, triathletes must meet the unique challenges of running, swimming, and cycling in an all-day race. They work long, hard hours to keep their bodies in peak condition by maintaining a balance of little body fat, yet sufficient muscle mass and energy for top performance. Now, preliminary research suggests Isagenix products could assist triathletes in achieving a competitive edge.

The Colgan Institute, an educational and research facility, conducted an open-label pilot study that followed six male athletes of medium to elite status in training for an Olympic-distance triathlon on the Isagenix Cleansing and Fat Burning System for 30 days. In addition to their regular training—about four hours per day for six days per week—the participants also agreed to do an additional 30 to 40 minute of resistance training exercises daily in accordance with the Colgan Power Program. The program, developed by Michael Colgan, Ph.D., a member of the Isagenix Scientific Advisory Board, includes three sets of eight different resistance exercises in each workout (explained fully in Dr. Colgan’s The New Power Program).

At the beginning of the trial, the entire group was at less than 10 percent body fat, and had been so for some time prior to testing. By the end of the study, participants had lost an average of 4.2 pounds, decreasing body fat by an average of 3 percent, while increasing lean body mass by an average of 0.7 pounds or 2.8 percent.

“Many programs in which athletes rapidly lose body fat also show losses of muscle mass,” Dr. Colgan said. “The result is surprising as these are athletes who were already doing everything known in athletics to minimize body fat while maintaining muscle mass.”None of the subjects reported a decline in training. Three reported training improvements during the 30 days. Two reported improved sleep. No subject reported adverse events. No athletes competed during the trial; however, in the two months since completion, three of the athletes recorded significant gains in cycling performance, and two saw significant gains in running performance.

The standard distance triathlon, also referred to as the Olympic distance, includes a 1.5 kilometer swim, a 40 kilometer bike ride, and a 10 kilometer run. A triathlete’s ratio of body fat to lean muscle mass can mean a big difference in competitive performance in such an endurance event.

“The Olympic distance triathlon is a two-hour endurance event, during which performance is significantly affected by even small improvements in body composition,” Dr. Colgan said. “As these athletes were already in peak condition, this gain is exceptional.”

Isagenix Director of Research Susie Rockway, Ph.D., added, “Data from this preliminary trial added with the accumulating scientific evidence of whey protein’s stimulation of muscle synthesis, together, clearly shows that the ‘magic’ in Isagenix products offers an advantageous strategy to maximize healthy weight loss while preserving lean muscle—the key to improving body composition.”

Triathlete-style Cleansing and Fat Burning System

The athletes followed all the instructions for the Cleansing and Fat Burning System with a few modifications to meet training demands. The routine followed the typical schedule of Shake Days combined with one Cleanse Day every seven days. In total, the products taken included the following:

IsaLean® Shake: A high-protein meal replacement taken twice daily to replace two meals per day, except on Cleanse Days.

Ionix Supreme: Proprietary herbal drink containing adaptogens taken daily to support the body under stress.

Cleanse for Life: Proprietary herbal drink taken only on Cleanse Days to support natural detoxification.

Natural Accelerator: Supplement taken daily to support natural thermogenesis (fat burning).

IsaFlush!®: Supplement containing herbs plus magnesium taken daily to assist bowel regularity.

Prior to the program, participants maintained an average food intake of 4,100 to 5,200 calories per day with an average 20 percent protein, 65 percent carbohydrate, and 15 percent fat. To not compromise caloric needs of training, modifications were made to Shake Days where the one single, evening meal contained 1,500 to 2,000 calories instead of the indicated 400 to 600 calories.

The meals on Shake Days consisted of predominantly fish and multiple fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. No breads or cereals were consumed, and fats were mostly from unprocessed nuts, seeds, and vegetable and fish oils. The athletes also continued their personalized supplementation programs, which included vitamins and minerals during the trial.

A few months ago I got a call from a woman in California who wanted me to look at an opportunity called Body By Vi. This didn’t surprise me at all – I get pitched a new company every week. Then I got an email from a guy in Ontario… Body By Vi was just launching in Canada and he wanted me to join his team. Totally fine – it’s nice that other marketers think I’d be an asset, and I’m glad their company is doing well – there’s lots of business to go around. Body by Vi Scam

But then I received an email from a Body By Vi distributor that compared Isagenix vs Body By Vi (among other health products) in a side-by-side comparison. This document (see below) was put together by Visalus Sciences’ (the company that owns Body By Vi) Corporate Marketing Office that shows comparison of the nutritional values of the products. After seeing this disgrace of a marketing ploy I can tell you for sure that I will not be promoting these products. You’ll see why below…

Is There a Body By Vi Scam?

I wouldn’t go that far. I actually have no doubt there are good things about their products… it’s just unfortunate that instead of highlighting their strong points, their marketing department chose to make ridiculous, misleading comparisions between the Body By Vi Shakes and popular competitor products, including Isagenix shakes. body by vi scam

Here are just a few of the obvious problems with their data:

Bogus Comparision #1: Body By Vi Shakes have Less Calories than Isagenix Shakes (Or Any Other Meal Replacement Shake)

In this comparison the Body By Vi shake (or Vi-Shape) is presented without added milk, which is how you must consume it in order for it to be a meal replacement, thus this shake only appears to have 90 cal (which does not provide enough calories to be categorized as a Meal Replacement unless mixed with Milk or Soy Milk).

Isagenix shakes (and many of the other shakes being compared) are stand-alone meal replacements… just add water. So, their comparison is misleading to say the least.

Their product as listed would put people on a very low calorie intake (180 kcal!). The company even says on it’s website the shake can be mixed in water as a “healthy snack” but must be mixed in milk or soy milk to be a meal replacement.

Why then do they not list the meal replacement value when they are clearly comparing their product against other meal replacements?

Bogus Comparision #2: Body By Vi Shakes Have Less Fat Than Isagenix Shakes (Or Any Other Meal Replacement Shake)

The comparision shows that Body By Vi shakes have 1 g of fat compared with 5g in an Isagenix shake. Once again, in this comparison the Body By Vi Shake is presented without milk (which it needs to be a true meal replacement). Every other meal replacement shake listed has more fat because they are providing their “prepared” values. Body by Vi is the only one on the list that isn’t listed this way… strange, but it sure makes their numbers look good!

Bogus Comparision #3: Body By Vi Shakes Have Less Carbohydrates Than Isagenix Shakes (Or Any Other Meal Replacement Shake)

In the comparison they claim only 7 grams of carbohydrate per Body By Vi Shake as compared to 28 grams in an Isagenix shake.

WOAH… a 21 gram difference? Well here’s the real story: The addition of milk (as suggested by the company but not included in the comparison) would add 12 grams to that figure, bringing the actual carbohydrates in the Body by Vi Shake to 19 grams.

And it would stand to reason that they still have less carbs than Isagenix; Body By Vi shakes contain artificial sweeteners (Sucralose) and that does not meet our requirement of natural ingredients. I could tell you all about why artificial sweetners shouldn’t be in health products but I digress.

Is Body By Vi A Scam? Here’s My Conclusion…

I have never written a negative review on any other network marketing company, because for the most part they provide great products and do so with integrity. And like I said at the beginning of this post, I have no doubt the Body By Vi products are good.

But when it comes to integrity in advertising I personally believe they have crossed a line. Every other company they compared themselves to publishes their “prepared” data… as in, they tell you the nutritional value of what you’re putting in your mouth, not what’s hanging out in a canister on the shelf. Unless you’re going to eat the powder dry, then these numbers don’t apply to you.

Publishing misleading data to convince health conscious consumers to buy your product is shady… what more can I say.

If you’re here because you’re searching for a weight loss or health solution I would urge you to do your due diligence and actually find out what’s in the products, as opposed to making a choice out of an obviously biased biased marketing tactic. And let me make that even easier for you: CLICK HERE FOR THE INGREDIENTS IN ISAGENIX SHAKES. (I would have posted the ingredients for Body By Vi Shakes as well but I couldn’t find that information readily available on their website… also strange for a company selling health products).

Out of integrity, I’m not going to put up a link to buy Isagenix on this post, because I would not want anyone to perceive this as using negative advertising… that’s not my thing. I just think people deserve to be made aware that what you see isn’t always what you get in advertising.

Sincerely,

Dawn Marrs

P.S.

Before all the Body By Vi reps start making negative comments, I would ask that you look at this objectively… If you want to compare your meal replacement against other meal replacements, you need to give the value of your product as it would be consumed as a meal replacement, not as a snack. “Apples to apples” as the saying goes.

If you love your company and this industry, let your company know that you would like this sort of misleading advertising to be stopped. I’m sure your products are good enough to sell themselves without using these bogus comparisons.

(Note: The content above was written by a blogging friends who wishes to not get anymore traffic from this post as she’s already suffered quite a bit of abuse from Body by Vi associates.)

I was told about Isagenix from a Buddie of mine and I figured I would try it out. I have always had a little pudge around my waist. I started taking Isagenix about half way through my deployment. I was working hard, and trying to eat right but that wasn’t doing much. I did a 30 day cleanse. The first couple of days were hard, but after that it wasn’t so bad. Before beginning the 30 day cleansing and fat burning system I weighed about 200 pounds, when I ended I weighed in at 190 pounds. I lost an inch and a half around my waist and now I look 10 times better then what I did when I started. There were several pluses to Isagenix besides the weight loss. One of the Pulses is that I was sleeping better, AND I slept better and for longer! Another plus is that my acne wasn’t as bad as it normally was.

Specialist Moore is fortunate to have a wonderful mother who willingly shipped the Isagenix products to her son while In Iraq. Moore hasn’t ordered any product in the last 2 months because he is limited to what he can carry home, as his deployment ends soon. He told me he’s looking very forward to ordering his Isalean shakes as soon as he gets home. For those serving in the military, Isagenix provides a complete system for wellness. The Isalean shakes are total meal replacements that give the body as many nutrients that you’d normally get out of about 40 meals. The protein is the highest grade of why protein on the market, coming from New Zealand where it is illegal to use steroids and growth hormones on cows. They refer to these cows as “Happy Cows”. See more ingredients here. With the highest quality meal replacement shakes, and other health supplements such as bars and Slim Cakes, Isagenix provides you with a Super Food that will make it easy to maintain your health while living a busy lifestyle. Isagenix is not expensive considering that it replaces meals, so any soldier on active duty can afford it. In fact, you’ll save money on groceries.

Thank you Specialist Moore for your commitment to health and for your example to us all. And thank you for your service to our country!
